Vine Removal

On 16 June, BHA sent teams of volunteers out into the neighborhood to help homeowners remove ivy growing up large trees, choking them and compromising their health.  We couldn't be happier with the results and are so thankful for all our participants!

Here is a statement from a satisfied resident:  Thank you all so much for removing the ivy from the evergreen on our condo’s property!  Your volunteers did a wonderful job, and we really appreciate everyone’s efforts.  Thank you for working to keep the Bonnycastle neighborhood beautiful!

The Planning Commission meeting for the proposed development of 1576 Cherokee Road will be held on Thursday, April 19th. The meeting will be held at the Old Jail Building, 514 W. Liberty Street (at the corner of Sixth and Liberty). The meeting starts at 1 pm but there are a few other matters for the Planning Commission before 1576 Cherokee Road so we ask that you arrive by 2 pm.

The BHA's position on the proposed development is stated in the following BHA Board resolution passed in December 2017:

We had a lovely time at our Soup and Salad event, and we were honored to host guest Gabriel Lefkowitz, photos courtesy of Jay and Louise Harris.  Thanks to everyone who came, brought food, and supported our organization.  Many, many huge thanks to Gabriel for playing for us.  You are a true asset to the neighborhood and the community at large!

2018 Annual Meeting

NOTICE: The Bonnycastle Homestead Association Annual Meeting will be 10am Saturday 17 February at the Commodore.

Major Aubrey Gregory of LMPD 5th Division will be our guest speaker.

Please come! We will be voting on the new board class and updating by-laws. You can pay your annual membership dues if you haven't recently. Come with lots of questions for Major Gregory about crime and safety in the neighborhood. Light refreshments will be served.

Gabriel Lefkowitz Soup and Salad

Reminder to all--our first Soup and Salad Event of 2018 is quickly approaching!

Gabriel Lefkowitz, the new concertmaster/principal violin of the Louisville Orchestra, will be the first speaker of the new year and we are honored that he is sharing an evening with us.

Gabriel, a Boston native, holds degrees from Columbia University and the Julliard School. He has performed with pop and indie bands, and he is also a conductor and composer for film and video games. Gabriel joined the LO in 2016.
